This field trip was an enjoyable opportunity to take unique photos, instead of always the same ones at Seaquam. I especially enjoyed going into the Bloedel Conservatory where there were many exotic birds and plants to photograph. Many of my photos I was happy with, but many turned out to not be in focus. I got my best photos in the Conservatory since there were many unique and pretty birds who would allow you to go up very close to them and take a photo. One thing I would do differently next time would be to look more closely and more carefully at my photos. Many times I thought I had a good photo, but when I looked at it on the computer it wasn’t focused. Overall, I had a great time on this field trip and enjoyed having a new place to explore and photograph.
Point of View
For this project we did worms and birds’ eye views. I enjoyed worms eye more since it was easier to get a shot from below than stand above. I found it difficult to choose two worms eye and difficult to find enough bird's eye. This project was a fun, simple experience but it was difficult to see the photo I was taking when the camera had to be so low to the ground. I enjoyed exploring new angles, and hope to continue more with new camera angles.
Fairy Tale Photography
This project was a fun challenge. I enjoyed trying to take dynamic and unique photos while at the same time making them work together as a story. It was also fun to take a classic fairy tale, I chose Riding Hood, and modernize it. In my first photo, Riding Hood is in the forest on the way to her grandmother’s, but she’s sitting because she is distracted easily, and stops a lot. In my second photo, the wolf spots her through the bushes. In my third photo, Riding Hood realizes she is being watched by a wolf, and runs, dropping her phone instead of a basket. In my fourth photo, Riding Hood is sprinting through a pathway to her grandma’s. And in the final photo, the wolf is pictured sitting on Riding Hood’s grandmother’s bed, after eating both her and her grandma. My model was Hana, who had a red poncho so it was easy to represent Riding Hood. Overall, this was a fun project and I enjoyed the freedom we had with taking photos for it.
Jekyll and Hyde
For my first image, which was the sad one, I used different elements to portray it was a sad photo. I had the model look down, since looking down is often perceived as sad or lonely. I also took the photo on a rainy and overcast day, to add to the darkness of the photo. Hana’s (the model’s) clothing was also dark. I used dark cool colours like purples and blacks to make the photo feel sad. My second image is the opposite. I had the model’s expression changed to appear happier, and more enthusiastic. I took the photo on a sunny day, so the background would be light and happy. I also used light colours and white clothes in order to portray a light, happy photo. Overall, I think I’ve demonstrated solid differences in my photos and it wouldn’t be too hard to tell which feeling each photo gave.
Love
I found this project quite interesting and I enjoyed it a lot, mostly because we had more freedom with what to photograph. My idea for the first photo had two meanings, one that I loved my dog, and two that he loves rolling in the grass. My idea for the second photo was art because I enjoy drawing and painting. The last photo was someone holding a camera, simply because I enjoy taking photos.
Holiday/Winter Photography
This holiday assignment was one which I enjoyed and I found it hard to choose just three photos. The mood I was trying to create in the first photo was festive and happy, since it had lots of reds, greens and reflective silvers. In the second and fourth photos the mood was light and bright, also festive because of the Christmas lights. The third photo had a whimsical and holiday mood, because of the gold Christmas-like material. I enjoyed this project and hope to work more with Christmas lights in the future.
Conceptual Self Portrait
The concept of my photo is the me nobody knows, the secret or less obvious me. The photo captures my hand drawing and creating an explosion of flowers. Drawing is something I enjoy to do in my spare time, which is not as obvious as other aspects of myself which others see. This photo represents the creative and artistic side of me which is not as well known as other parts of me.
Rule of Thirds
The second photo in this slideshow is actually the photo I took first, which doesn't exactly follow the Rule of Thirds. The first photo in the slideshow is the edited version. In this photo, I edited the photo to make the flowers and leaves appear more alive and vibrant. I also cropped the photo so it would better follow the Rule of Thirds. Overall, this assignment taught me how much of a big improvement editing can make in a photo.
Framing
This project was a fun challenge, since it was difficult to focus on the part I wanted when the camera automatically tries to focus on the framing object. In the first photo, it focuses on a mossy forest ground, and a camera is put down on the grass and is not focused on as a frame. In the second photo, the hand frames the mushroom. In the last photo, a leaf is held up which is framing the camera on a tripod. I discovered a new way of taking photos through this project which will be very useful.

Extras
These are some extra photos which I took outside of projects. I often enjoy experimenting with photos when I'm not doing assignments. Sometimes I feel limited when I have to take certain photos for projects, but I also enjoy taking photos for fun.
